Since 1983, the Redbud Classic, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, has welcomed the entire community to its exciting fitness activities. The Redbud Classic is committed to safely providing fun events for all ages, abilities, and fitness levels.
Since the Redbud Classic began, it has experienced tremendous growth and strong community support- both from the private and corporate sectors. Today the Redbud remains focused on offering the community quality events while encouraging competition and fitness. REDBUD HISTORY
- The Inaugural Redbud Classic was held in the spring of 1983. It drew 1,100 participants and consisted of a 10k and 2-mile running events.
- Since 1983, the Redbud Classic has attracted more than 300,000 participantsand is currently the second-largest fitness event in Oklahoma City.
- Each year, the Redbud partners with another local non-profit to serve as beneficiary and provide volunteers. The Redbud has partnered with over 30 local charitable organizations, including Infant Crisis Services, Safe Kids Oklahoma, Boys and Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County, Cleats for Kids, WhizKids, The CARE Center, and Wings Special Needs Community.
- In 41 years, the Redbud Foundation has contributed nearly $1 million to local charitable organizations.
Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits – Standards for Excellence
The Redbud Classic is recognized as having completed the Standards for Excellence course by the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits. Our certification is valid from 2018-2023, and we can be found on the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits graduate page.
