Building an Inclusive Community

The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the management of the park systems, recreational facilities, and programs as well as the Westwood Complex.

The Recreation Division is responsible for the operation of five (5) Recreation Centers, which include the Senior Citizens Center, the Whittier and Irving Recreation Centers (attached to middle schools), the Little Axe Community Center, and the 12th Avenue Recreation Center.  These centers provide recreational opportunities through their programming and also rental space for meetings and other community gatherings including multiple special events.  The Recreation Division is also responsible for the Westwood Family Aquatic Center which includes a 50m pool, lazy river, waterslides, spray park, new bath house and more and the Westwood Tennis Center includes twelve (12) adult and four (4) youth outdoor courts and a Tennis Club House and Pro Shop.
