The event is held in conjunction with the America’s State Parks First Day Hikes initiative that will take place in all 50 states.
Join Lake Thunderbird State Park staff on January 1 for the park's annual First Day Hike. Meet at Discovery Cove Thunderbird Nature Center at 11am before setting out to walk either the easy Fawns Rest Accessible Trail with the Park Manager Susie Snider or the more difficult guided walk with Naturalist Ernie Martin.
Be sure to bring your leashed pets on all three hikes (leashes no longer than 10'), camera, binoculars, water and appropriate dress for cold weather. After the journey, hikers can enjoy a healthy snack, bottled water, coffee and hot chocolate at the Nature Center.
The event is held in conjunction with the America's State Parks First Day Hikes initiative that will take place in all 50 states. First Day Hikes offer individuals and families the opportunity to begin the New Year connecting with the outdoors and staying active.
