Health and Safety at In-Person Events
Library staff members are working hard to maintain a clean environment before and after events. An air filtration system is utilized in the program room as an extra cleaning precaution.

In the event that Piedmont City offices are closed to the public, story time events will be moved to virtual zoom meetings.

One adult per child may attend children’s events.
Adults are required to wear masks during library events.
Children must be registered to attend Story Time events.

Story Time: Ages 4-5
Thirty-minutes of programming geared toward four and five year olds. This event is developed to promote early literacy through  stories, finger-plays, and action rhymes plus a variety of music and movement designed to develop motor coordination, active listening, following directions, and cooperation. Activities that encourage letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and number recognition are also incorporated.  Caregivers are asked to remain in the programming room and are welcome to participate in movement activities.

Tot Time: 2-3 year
This story time is created for our wiggly bunch of two and three year olds. The program includes stories, finger-play, plus a variety of music and movement designed to develop motor coordination, active listening, following directions, and cooperation. Caregivers are asked to remain in the programming room and are welcome to participate in movement activities.

Baby Time: Birth-1 year
Fridays at 10 am

This 30 minute early-literacy program is designed for children from birth to 18 months to interact with their parents or caregivers.  Baby Time uses a variety of activities such as rhymes, songs, puppets and instruments to foster speech development, motor coordination, self-confidence, and sensitivity to others.

Virtual Story Time
Virtual story time options will be offered for families who are social distancing. Prerecorded story times will be available periodically on the Piedmont Public Library Facebook page. Zoom story times are available twice a month and will follow the format of traditional in person story times. Check our monthly calendar for dates.

Preschool Music & Movement with Miss Alyssa
First Wednesday of each Month, 10 am or 10:45 am

This 45-minute program is aimed at toddlers and preschoolers. Children and their caregivers explore a variety of musical instruments and participate in a variety of dances and movements designed to get children excited about music, improve their fine and gross motor skills, and spark their creativity.

Summer Reading Program
June and July of each year. Tuesday come-and-go activities from 10am until 1pm; Thursday evening projects for families.

Plus, participants can pick up an official library reading log. For every day that they spend 20 minutes reading, they earn a sticker. After 7 stickers, the child may come to the library and collect a prize from our fabulous summer reading store, full of toys and books for all ages and reading levels.

For Adults
Paint ‘n Palette
Fourth Thursday of the month, quarterly, 6:00-8:00 pm. Call to find out the next painting date.

Get away from home for an evening to meet some new friends, enjoy tasty refreshments, and paint a delightful masterpiece for your home or office.

Readers Who Lunch
Third Thursday of each month, at noon.

Readers are invited to bring a brown bag lunch to the Library at Noon to eat with us and join our lively discussion. Sometimes we visit a local restaurant instead of meeting at the library, so please call the library to verify the location, or to find out the current month’s title.

Garden Club
Third Saturday of each month, 9am, at the library, though sometimes we visit member gardens for the meeting. Please call the library to verify the month’s location.

Club attendees chat about plants, lawn maintenance, weed management, insect removal, et cetera. No topic too large or small for our gardeners.

Quilting
2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesdays of each month, 10am. Quilters of all experience levels come to the library to work on a project, to talk about technique, or to chat with other quilters about anything related to sewing and fabrics.

Wreath Making
Late November or early December, 6-8:00 pm. The library’s annual fundraiser, a fresh wreath making class. We provide the greenery, the ribbon, and the ornamental plants and accessories to create one-of-a-kind decorations for your home. Greenery holds its scent for at least a month, allowing makers to enjoy their hard work through the New Year. We provide light refreshments and good company while you construct your holiday wreath. Call the library for specific dates and to reserve your seat. Space is limited and fills quickly.
