The purpose of the Training Rides is to help cyclists get back in shape to prepare for Summer and Fall rides.
Riders use this to prepare for Oklahoma Freewheel, Hotter'n Hell Hundred, or other events. The rides are no-drop, but participants are expected to maintain a minimum pace of 12 mph for rides up to 30 miles and minimum 14 mph for longer distances. The rides are scheduled on Saturday mornings from March to August. The rides start at 20 miles, increasing 5 to 10 miles each week up to 85 miles by August.
IMPORTANT NOTES: Click "Official Website" or go to OKCBike.org (click "Spring Training Rides") for starting locations and time, which vary every week! Start times may vary. As the days get warmer, rides will start earlier. You may join OBS Facebook Group for more up-to-date information. A separate Summer Training Ride series (still being developed) will also be available for those training for the Hotter'n Hell Hundred at the end of August. When there is a concurrent cycling event such as the Valley Rally or Tour de Meers, riders are encouraged to join those rides and a training ride may not be held that day.
This event is FREE to attend. Bring your own snacks and bike supplies such as spare tubes and CO2 inflator/cartridges.
